| FILM THE DAY -El Día- Synopsis This is an art-cinema feature, based on the urban poem with the same name, portraits a day on the life of a woman. During all this day, she is going closing doors, making some memories of her life in a sort of poetical accusation of the marginalization that there is still against women in our modern society. On this same city travel, she passes by familiar places; she makes some love damages recount combining realities and dreams in a kind of magical neo realism. Finally, she tries to find the last door or get convinced, in all the serenity she can get from an honest decision- that her only way out is her own end but this, no without leaving a series of defluxions about establishment, women, and the love and over all, about the beauty of life itself. PROJECT DEFINITION: It is easy and at the same time, hard to define a film Project like this. We can say that is the movie of a poem, it’s film version: We could say that is a whole film proposal that, using one single actress talent, having only three dialogues scenes in all the movie and having a poem as a off voice narration that tells -as is used to be done on a fairy tale- the poetical version of the shown action, tries to recreate the ultimate journey that the poem represents in itself. We can say that the poem is the basis for the movie script. However, I passionately believe that is much more than only that. On my very personal point of view, this is one of those projects where the sum of all the parts is much bigger than the expected results: We can get a very clear vision of the photographic proposal, a clear vision of the axes handling, clear vision of the treatment of continuity that takes us to an almost “magic realism” atmosphere taken from the particular psychological state perspective that induces the suicide to the selftermination… and so on. Definitely, is much more than that. A very important element on this feature film is the music on its three levels: Music themes, music scores and what I call the “under-scores” coming from the urban sounds themselves. And of course, the “Soloist” performance of the actress that never stops from being as dynamic as her roll can be. And finally, it is precisely this theatrical offer of one single acting element that gives to this film project the intimacy and the psychological-spiritual withdrawal that the poem already have and that maybe, just maybe, some day if ever, will we call “The last adventure of the James Joyce heritage” FILM GENERAL INFO Original Title: EL DÍA Cast: Juliana Guajardo –For complete cast ref.
